Sadd intention gate — pause and remember Allah
سدّ
0112
Salām · welcome back

Open to peace, not a feed.

Sadd greets you by name and shows the time it guarded for you — 20 minutes today, returned as a choice: Qur'an, dhikr, presence, or simply rest.

0212
Today · The reckoning

Your whole day, accounted for.

Niyyahs logged, honest bypasses, sadaqah pending — and your next salah, always one glance away. Sadd opens to your intentions, never a feed.

0312
The Recitation · Qur'an

Pick up where you left off.

The Book, always one tap away — continue your sūrah, keep a reading streak alive, and carry a verse of the day with you.

0412
The gate · niyyah

A gate before every scroll.

Reach for a distracting app and Sadd stops you cold. Name your intention, in your own words, then proceed for two minutes — or turn back and stay disciplined.

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ
0512
Muḥāsaba · tonight

Reckon yourself before you are reckoned.

Each night, the day in numbers — time guarded, bypasses, dhikr, streak. A quiet self-audit that shapes tomorrow's intention.

0612
Reclaimed · 30 days

See the hours you took back.

Twenty-three hours and twenty-one minutes this month — about 116 readings of Surah Al-Mulk. A discipline score that rewards consistency over streaks.

0712
Patterns · know yourself

Know exactly when you slip.

Bypass attempts peak around midnight. Thursdays run heaviest. Sadd surfaces your real patterns so you can guard the windows that matter most.

0812
Daily wird · dhikr

Keep your tongue moist with His remembrance.

A weighted tasbih for your daily wird — SubḥānAllāh, Astaghfirullāh, ṣalawāt — counting toward a goal, with a gentle haptic for every bead.

0912
Hadith · every dawn

A narration to carry through the day.

One authenticated hadith each morning — with its source and a short reflection — curated on a forty-day rotation.

1012
Qibla · the direction

Always know which way to turn.

A precise compass to the Kaʿba — bearing, distance, and a clear signal the moment you are aligned.

1112
Salah · the anchor

Every prayer, on time.

Accurate times for your location — the next salah counting down, the day's prayers tracked, sunrise to sunset. The fixed points the whole barrier is built around.

1212
Halaqa · the circle

Walk with your brothers.

A private circle that shares only collective ʿamal — hours reclaimed, niyyahs, sadaqah. App names, intentions, and timestamps are never shared.

01 · How it works

Five steps.
Repeated until something changes.

Other apps lock you out. Sadd asks you a question — and converts the answer into worship.

01
Tap a tracked app.
You pick which apps to seal — Instagram, TikTok, X — whichever pulls you under.
02
Sadd shields it.
A calm screen takes over. No lock-screen battles. Just one question.
03
Type your niyyah.
60 honest characters. Saved privately to your muḥāsaba.
04
Sadaqah is given.
From $0.25 a slip, to a charity you chose. The bypass becomes a gift.
05
Your minutes, granted.
1 to 15 minutes. Sadd watches, then re-arms the shield automatically.
02 · The full app

More than a wall.
A companion.

Sadd shields, reads, recites, counts, points to qibla, and sits with you at fajr.

I · The Niyyah Gate

Friction, by design.

Apps you've chosen are sealed behind a single slow question — sixty honest characters. The answer becomes your record. Read it back before isha. Read it back to your Rabb.

II · Sadaqah

Every bypass becomes sadaqah.

From $0.25 each time you slip, to a charity you chose. A voluntary gift, not a fine.

III · Quran

The whole muṣḥaf.

Madinah script, 8 reciters, 14 translations, tafsir from Ibn Kathīr & al-Saʿdī. Bookmarks saved on-device.

IV · Adhkār & Tasbih

Morning, evening, after salah.

Hisn al-Muslim, ordered by occasion. Haptic tasbih counter. No streak guilt.

V · Salah & Qibla

Times. Direction. Tahajjud.

Adhan with custom reciter, calculated by your madhhab. Tahajjud helper for the last third.

VI · Halaqa

A circle, by kunya.

Invite friends or join your masjid's halaqa. See bypass counts — never niyyahs. (Pro.)

VII · Muḥāsaba

The day's account.

Every night Sadd compiles what you opened, what you intended, what you gave.

03 · Widgets

Nine widgets for the home screen & lock.

Prayer times, your streak, the day's āyah, pending sadaqah, your halaqa — all on the surface you see most.

05 · Questions

Things you might be wondering.

Is this fiqh-compliant? How do you frame the sadaqah?
Carefully. We deliberately avoid conflating this with classical kaffārah — it is a voluntary sadaqah triggered by a commitment you make to yourself. The money goes to a charity you choose, never to Sadd. We're reviewing every flow with qualified scholars before public launch, in shā Allāh.
Does Sadd see what I do inside Instagram?
No. We use the iOS Screen Time API, which only tells us that a tracked app was opened — not what you saw or posted inside it. The intention you write at the gate is saved to your account so you can revisit it; it's never sold, mined, or shared with your halaqa or charity.
How is the sadaqah actually paid?
Not inside the app. You set it up once on sadd.app: sign in, save a card with Stripe, sign a commitment. After that the iOS app only logs a bypass; our server charges and routes the donation. Apple's rules don't allow paying to lift a screen-time shield in-app — and honestly the calm is better for it.
Can I just uninstall the app?
Yes. We don't believe in lock-in. The whole point is that you want the barrier to be there.
I tried Opal / one sec / Screen Time. Why try this?
Because none of them speak to why you want to stop. Sadd is built around a specific Muslim vocabulary — niyyah, taubah, sadaqah, muḥāsaba — and a specific exchange: lost attention becomes gained charity.
What does "Sadd" mean?
سدّ — Arabic for a wall, dam, or deliberate barrier. From the classical fiqh principle of sadd adh-dharāʾiʿ — blocking the means to harm before it reaches you. Felt like a fitting name.
