01
Agreement and Service
By downloading, accessing, or using Sadd (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions herein, do not use this Service.
Sadd is provided to help you manage your digital wellbeing through intentional barriers. We offer both free and paid (Pro) tiers, each with different features outlined in the app.
02
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Sadd. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and have the legal right to enter into this agreement in your jurisdiction.
If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must authorize your use of Sadd and agree to be responsible for your conduct.
03
Account and Authentication
Sadd uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Apple ID and password, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during signup
- Update your information to keep it accurate
- Take responsibility for all activity under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
04
Your Responsibilities
You agree that you will use Sadd only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe upon the rights of others or restrict their use and enjoyment of the Service. Prohibited behavior includes:
- Harassing, threatening, or abusing others
- Reverse engineering or attempting to access non-public features
- Using automated tools to access or scrape the Service
- Attempting to circumvent security measures or moderation
- Transmitting viruses, malware, or other harmful code
05
Intellectual Property
All content and materials in Sadd, including but not limited to the design, code, text, graphics, and Quranic content, are owned by Sadd or licensed from third parties. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or transmit any content without our prior written consent.
The Quranic content is provided from publicly licensed sources. Prayer time calculations are based on the Muslim World League standard and may be configured per your local calculation method.
06
Halaqa (Circles) and Community Features
If you create or join a halaqa, you agree to:
- Respect the privacy and dignity of other members
- Not use halaqa for commercial purposes or solicitation
- Understand that while individual app usage is private, you share aggregate weekly stats (total bypass count, minutes reclaimed, sadaqah amount)
- Not impersonate others or provide false information
We reserve the right to remove members from a halaqa if conduct violates these terms.
07
Sadaqah and Payments
If you set up sadaqah (charity commitment), you authorize us to charge your Apple payment method each time you bypass a blocked app. Payments are processed by Stripe and batched weekly to minimize fees. You agree to:
- Review and accept the sadaqah amount before enabling it
- Keep your payment method current
- Be responsible for all charges authorized by your account
- Monitor your activity if you wish to limit charges
All sadaqah is directed to the charity you specify during setup. We handle processing only; charities receive funds directly via Stripe. You can review your donation history in Settings → Sadaqah → History.
08
Content You Provide
You retain all rights to content you create within Sadd (such as niyyah texts and circle names). However, we need permission to:
- Store and process your content to provide the Service
- Share aggregate, anonymized data for analytics and improvement
- Comply with legal requests if required by law
Your niyyah text (the intention you write when bypassing a block) is stored locally on your device by default and never shared, even with halaqa members.
09
Disclaimers and Limitations
Sadd is provided "as is" without warranty. We do not guarantee that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available
- Bugs or vulnerabilities will not exist
- Blocking will be completely tamper-proof (users with system access can always find a way around app-level restrictions)
- Prayer times are 100% accurate for your location
Sadd is a tool for intention, not a guarantee. The barrier only works if you want it to.
10
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall Sadd be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from this agreement shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months, or $100, whichever is less.
11
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Sadd against any third-party claims arising from your use of the Service, violation of these terms, or infringement of any intellectual property or other right.
12
Termination
We may terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. You may delete your account anytime in Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. Your data will be permanently removed within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for details.
13
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of Sadd after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. If you do not agree to changes, you must stop using the Service.
14
Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located therein.
